That’s why we’re excited to introduce two factor authentication (2FA) for Argent X, the latest security feature for the most downloaded wallet on Starknet.
In this blog post, you’ll learn how to use 2FA with your Argent X account(s) and how this is just the start of a much wider security push.
What is 2FA?
2FA is an opt-in security service that protects your funds using your email, available for Starknet accounts in Argent X. When enabled, 2FA feature will use your email as a second layer of protection for your funds, preventing an attacker from doing anything with your account even if your seed phrase is stolen.
How does 2FA work in Argent X?
When you activate 2FA Argent X, you add Argent as a guardian to help protect your account.
If you want to enable 2FA in Argent X, here’s what you do:
- Open up Argent X
- Click the settings icon
- Select your account
- Enable Argent Shield / Smart Account
- Verify your email
After completing these steps, you will be prompted to re-authenticate every 30 days to confirm your ongoing access and maintain up-to-date security.
Are my funds secure with 2FA?
When 2FA is enabled on your account, your funds are more secure. 2FA adds an extra layer of defence by utilising your email. In the event that your seed phrase is compromised, an attacker would require access to your email to withdraw your funds.
Is 2FA censorship-resistant?
As you would expect with any Argent product, this feature is 100% censorship-resistant, non-custodial, and you can disable it instantly with a simple transaction with 2FA approval.
If you don’t want to have 2FA enabled, you don’t have to. It’s an opt-in service that only you can apply to the accounts you want it on.
