That’s why we’re excited to introduce Argent Shield for Argent X, the latest security feature for the most downloaded wallet on Starknet.
In this blog post, you’ll learn what Argent Shield is, how this is just the start of a much wider security push, and how to use two-factor authentication (2FA) with your Argent X account(s).
What is Argent Shield?
Argent Shield is an opt-in security service that protects your funds using your email, available for Starknet accounts in Argent X. When enabled, Argent Shield will use your email as a second layer of protection for your funds, preventing an attacker from doing anything with your account even if your seed phrase is stolen.
How does 2FA work in Argent X?
When you activate Argent Shield in Argent X, you add Argent as a guardian to help protect your account.
If you want to enable Argent Shield in Argent X, here’s what you do:
- Open up Argent X
- Click the settings icon
- Select your account
- Turn on Argent Shield
- Verify your email
After completing these steps, you will be prompted to re-authenticate every 30 days to confirm your ongoing access and maintain up-to-date security.
Are my funds secure with Argent Shield?
Argent Shield is 2FA for your wallet, when enabled on your account your funds are more secure. Argent Shield adds an extra layer of defence by utilising your email. In the event that your seed phrase is compromised, an attacker would require access to your email to withdraw your funds.
Is Argent Shield censorship-resistant?
As you would expect with any Argent product, Argent Shield is 100% censorship-resistant, non-custodial, and you can disable it instantly with a simple transaction with 2FA approval.
If you don’t want to have Argent Shield, you don’t have to. It’s an opt-in service that only you can apply to the accounts you want it on.
